This website was built so that poetry is comfortable to read for as many people as possible.

What has been done

The site uses semantic HTML with a single logical heading order on every page, and can be navigated entirely by keyboard with a visible focus outline throughout. A "skip to content" link is the first thing a keyboard or screen-reader user reaches.

All text, including small labels and gold accents, meets WCAG AA contrast (4.5:1) against its background, and focus indicators meet 3:1. Animation is subtle by design and switches off completely when a device requests reduced motion. If JavaScript fails or is disabled, all content still displays — nothing is hidden behind an animation.

Images carry descriptive alternative text, and the content system asks for a description whenever an image is uploaded.

Known limitations

Poetry depends on line breaks and spacing to carry meaning. Screen readers announce these differently than a sighted reader experiences them, and a poem's visual shape may not translate fully to audio.
